ADR Systems

On September 17th, 2014 ADR Systems senior mediator and arbitrator, Gregory Meeder, Esq., moderated a construction owners panel for the Chicago Building Congress (CBC). The panel met for the CBC’s annual Economic Summit. This year’s theme for the summit was exploring the economic challenges and issues that currently face some of the largest and most influential construction owners in Chicago.

Increasing demand and capability of new technology in planning and coordinating construction projects, and how this has changed the way construction projects proceed, dominated the discussion of the high-powered panel.  Innovation and know how regarding how to implement and maintain “smart” building systems – building systems that have been constructed using some of the most advanced technology that the construction industry has to offer – is no longer a luxury in the industry. Construction owners and contractors, as well as attorneys and mediators who deal with construction claims, can greatly benefit from familiarizing themselves with new technologies and processes that are here to stay.

Judge Burke successfully mediated a complicated case with little chance of being resolved.  He read every word of the parties' submissions, asked astute questions, and worked hard to find a path to resolution.  Judge Burke communicated with the parties themselves - so that they felt they were important participants in working toward resolution. The case I thought was never going to settle, settled.
